KEY INSIGHTS:

Main reasons for wanting to co-found a business?

  • We’ve always been very ambitious and motivated individuals. We felt that if we’re going to use our expertise, we should do it for ourselves. As soon as we had developed our skill sets and industry experience, we felt the time was right to go and put our mark on it.
  • Why not take a big step? It’s best to start a company now, we’re going to learn so much.
  • Ultimately, it was the right time and we wanted to challenge ourselves.

Before you joined RecruitHub, what options did you explore?

  • We explored building our business independently and evaluated other startup platform models. However, when we saw what RecruitHub had to offer and how they would help us, it made sense. Our long-term vision is to expand our business internationally, so having that capability along with the techstack and community is a big thing for us.

What has impressed you the most since launching on RecruitHub

  • Being in a community with like-minded individuals. It makes you feel comfortable in what you’re doing. There’s always someone who can relate to how you’re feeling to share ideas and opinions.

What excites you about building your business?

  • One of the things we’re most excited about is putting ourselves in an “uncomfortable” position – this is what keeps us going because we know what’s on the other side of it.

TOP TIPS FOR SOMEONE WHO IS PREPARING TO START UP:

  • Focus: write down what you need to do, why you’re doing it, and just hold yourself accountable. Because it’s only you versus you at the end of the day. There’s no one else telling you what to do.
  • Self-assessment: asking yourself, what is it that I want to achieve from this business? Why do I want to set this business up? What are the steps I need to take to get to where I need to be?
  • Don’t delay. You shouldn’t waste time on making the decision, just do it, because if not it’s going to be a burden. You’re always going to go into work feeling a lack of motivation because you didn’t do what you said you’d do.
  • Be prepared for the risk. At the end of the day, scared money doesn’t make money, so you must take the risk.
