Luke Warner

Prior to launching Birchlake, founder Luke Warner headed up the recruitment team at 1,000+ employee Huntswood, supporting Financial Services firms with regulatory recruitment throughout the UK.

Luke grew the recruitment function with Huntswood over thirteen years, having previously worked for Robert Walters, recruiting across Finance & Accountancy within Commerce & Industry.

Creating Birchlake gave Luke total freedom over his work-life split, allowing him to spend more time with his young family whilst rapidly building a niche customer base across more than 40 UK financial services clients.

What was the process like to launch with RecruitHub?
It went really well. I spoke to Edmund and the team, and just from the first conversation I had with them I had a gut feel that it was a right fit. They put me through to other 2-3 people who also launched on the platform, and that really gave me the confidence it was the right decision.
The whole approach was not at all pressurised. I felt they were really supportive, and they made me think about things I probably wouldn’t even think about.
Also, they were handling all of that stuff in the background which you can’t really see, like the payroll, marketing, automation and tools.
They’re really cutting edge at business launches in this day and age.

How much are you spending on revenue generating vs admin during the week?

Majority of it is revenue generating. Which is what I wanted, particularly in the early stages. This was also another point why I decided to go with RecruitHub, I didn’t want to be bogged down with having to worry about a lot of stuff which RecruitHub does for me.

It has allowed me to focus on getting new clients on board and making sure they’re getting the right attention. It also allowed me to have great conversations with the clients without having to worry about the admin staff.
